Although I was playing in every game I still felt like I was the newcomer to the team. It was as if I had joined them instead of them joining me. If we played against a good side I was more involved because there wasn't as many options available for the man on the ball. Against a poor side, when everyone had more players in space to pass to, I was rarely the option taken. Consequently I wasn't enjoying my football. After we had won a game 10-0 and I didn't score, and I can't recall receiving a pass, I decided to leave. I know this wasn't deliberate I think it was more a case of players having an option and automatically passing to a mate.

Looking back I suppose I must have scored goals because I had kept my place in the team.


Into its third season I was possibly the only player left from the 'YC's first season. There was the addition of a few more players from the 'YC Juniors as well as the Juniors Trainer Ernie Carlin. Ernie stayed at the club until 1989 and gave incredible service in various capacities including Club Chairman. Some of these Juniors included :-
